The PowerBoard - A Lap-Held Keyboard and Mouse Platform System Designed and Developed by a Physical Therapist/Ergonomic Consultant.
Shown with top-mounted adjustable-tilt mouse platform (available in left or right-handed models).
The PowerBoard is a wood platform, with a corduroy covered “bean bag” underneath to hold the keyboard comfortably and securely on the lap. This allows the user of the PowerBoard to easily adjust the keyboard to be in the optimal ergonomic position, thereby minimizing the risk of repetitive stress injury. The PowerBoard is available with a top-mounted, adjustable-tilt or side-mounted mouse platform. Just place it on your lap, shake the “bean bag” to the position and angle of tilt you want, and you and your PowerBoard are ready to work!

The PowerBoard is a patented product and trademarked by the PowerBoard Co.
• New research suggests that the incidence of repetitive stress injury is reduced when the keyboard is placed at a negative tilt of 12 to 15 degrees. The PowerBoard allows you to adjust the tilt with ease.
• The placement of the keyboard on the lap allows the PowerBoard user to have a lower hand position for more optimal use of gravity.
• The PowerBoard positions the feet and legs under the board so they can be used as an integral part of the support system for the rest of the body.
• The buckwheat hull filler and corduroy covering provides for a comfortable fit and accurate positioning, as it holds the PowerBoard securely on the lap.
How to use:
1. Place feet flat on the floor directly under your knees.
2. Chair seat height should be high enough to have your hips slightly higher than your knees. A slight forward tilt of the seat works best. (If your chair cannot make these adjustments, you can purchase a seat wedge, or roll a bath towel into a wedge shape and place it under your “sit bones”.)
3. Lean forward from your hips until you feel your abdominal muscles (the muscles in the front of your trunk) engaged.
4. Hold the PowerBoard on both sides, with the backstop away from you, and shake the buckwheat hulls towards you. This creates the negative tilt. Place the PowerBoard on your lap, then center the keyboard on the PowerBoard.
5. Place the mouse on the optional mouse platform and pivot the platform to a position close to your keyboard.
6. Alternatively, if you primarily use the mouse, place the keyboard back on the work surface and put the mouse on the PowerBoard.
“As soon as I started using the PowerBoard, the tension in my upper back and shoulders disappeared almost immediately!” Nina F., Author
“To me, the key advantage of the PowerBoard is that it allows you to position the keyboard independent of the desk, which is often too high and not adjustable.” Norman C., Utilities Manager
